Ana Popescu – Paradise: A Visual Diary
Ana Popescu's oeuvre encapsulates a visual narrative of daily life, capturing the essence of urban architecture through a lens of imagination and introspection. Her artwork meticulously portrays architectural nuances in a state of serene emptiness, juxtaposing light and shadow to evoke a surreal yet dynamic urban experience.
Featured in the exhibition are simple and elegant collages crafted during Popescu's residency in Matsudo, Japan, alongside digital drawings and original wax and crayon works inspired by her global travels. "Paradise: A Visual Diary" showcases the culmination of Popescu's sensitive and intricate observations, inviting viewers to delve into the allure of architecture and its interplay with vivid colours and graphic forms.
Ana Popescu, a versatile artist and illustrator, born in Romania, raised in France, and now based in Vienna, Austria. She specialises in creating artworks primarily on paper. Graduating in Fine Arts from the University of Applied Arts in 2013, with a focus on engraving and illustration, Ana has since showcased her talent in exhibitions worldwide, from New York to Shanghai. In the last years she has exhibited in New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Ljubljana, Bergen, London, Milan and at Wittgentstein Haus in Vienna. Some of her clients include: Rimowa, Tylko, Zeit Magazin, Canal +, Architectural Digest and Frieze NY.
