Andrzej Klimowski- Pipistrello
Drawing inspiration from a haunting short story by Andrzej Klimowski—a Polish-born artist celebrated for his surreal visual narratives, graphic novels, and avant-garde poster designs—Pipistrello immerses viewers in a shadowy film-noir fantasy. Renowned for blending Eastern European sensibilities with British countercultural influences, Klimowski studied at Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts before honing his craft at London’s Royal College of Art, where he later became a revered professor. His work, often characterised by psychological depth and stark monochromatic contrasts, has earned him acclaim in illustration, theatre design, and experimental publishing.
In Pipistrello, a long-lost mysterious film reel intertwines with Andrzej Klimowski’s signature atmospheric prose and haunting, enigmatic visuals, conjuring a vanished world of seductive glamour and forbidden desire. The project channels his lifelong fascination with fragmented memory and existential tension, themes that permeate his graphic novels like The Depository and Horace Dorlan.
A collection of stark black-and-white linocut prints and an exclusive limited-edition book—showcasing Klimowski’s mastery of texture and symbolic storytelling—will debut at Pocko Gallery, offering audiences a glimpse into his unique creative universe.
