Elephant Magazine

New Design by Astrid Stavro

Interview by Pocko

Today, Elephant magazine celebrates its twentieth issue by relaunching with a fresh new design, courtesy of our dear friend Astrid Stavro and Pablo Martin. This special issue  takes readers into Gus Van Sant’s studio; considers the rise of Sam Falls; uncovers Anselm Kiefer’s magical domain Barjac (placing the Gard village at the centre of twentieth-century German culture); offers lifestyle tips from David Shrigley; speaks candidly with French photographer Laurence Demaison; explores the art scene in Tokyo; and thinks deeply about living dolls, artistic utopias (as well as dystopias), and crafting something beautiful in a digital age.

As well as retaining its most celebrated features, Elephant will introduce new ones, designed to boldly showcase the very best of art and creativity across all disciplines. Highlights of these new features include ‘Paper Galleries’: art presented in a style that mimics the experience of viewing art in a gallery – without distraction; ‘Art Mix’ which is a snapshot of today’s art world and is comprised of short articles with specially commissioned illustrations and infographics; and finally ‘Show of the Times’ which will focus on an exhibition that embodies the spirit of the quarter.

Elephant is a quarterly magazine focused on contemporary art and visual culture. Featuring cutting-edge visual material, fresh faces and original commentaries, the magazine uncovers new trends and talent in contemporary visual culture.

The magazine is more timely, more journalistic, more readable and enjoyable, getting closer, skin-close in a way, to the lively culture that thrives in and around contemporary art.
