Sawako Kabuki’s most recent campaign for independent Taiwanese jewelry label Mervyn, opens up space for experimentation and joy with his exquisite aesthetic.
In this surrealist animation promoting their newest Petal Ring design, she bends the norms of reality and convention which resonated with the brand’s pursuit of the out of the ordinary, pecular and beauty in the most unconventional ways.
The animation pushes boundaries of femininity, beauty and its relation to jewellery, with Samako Kabuki’s unique take on the campaign in this animation. The rings and other pieces that are part of this collection, are a testament to the pursuit of whimsy, where each wearer is invited to their own garden of imagination, where every petal holds a secret waiting to be discovered. Though sometimes, it is poisonous. This perfectly captures Mervyn’s ideals behind the collection but also Kabuki’s subversive and peculiar way of seeing the world, much like that of Lewis Caroll’s Alice…
